Camp locations that our students can look forward to visiting and exploring during their time at Portobello School are Bannockburn, Berwick, Quarantine Island, Naseby and the Rail Trail and Wellington.

PENINSULA TO PEAK ~ 2012 YEAR 7 & 8 BANNOCKBURN CAMP
In March, the Year 7 and 8 students left the Peninsula to travel towards the peaks of Central Otago and the Lakes District. Acting as geologists based in Bannockburn (the Heart of the Desert) we travelled to Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Arrowtown and Queenstown to discover how landforms dictate the kinds of work and play that happens.

LEADING THE WAY ~ 2011 YEAR 8 WELLINGTON CAMP
Our Year 8 students investigated the ways in which individuals, groups, organisations, companies and places 'lead the way' when they visited Wellington in October 2011. What a great way to finish off eight years of learning for living in our unique environment before heading to college or high school!

WAIANAKARUA OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAMP
December 2010

A great time was had by all Year 5 and 6 students as they explored Puketapu, Moeraki Boulders, McKerrows Pond, the Waianakarua River, and the Waianakarua campsite. Hiking, sailing, kayaking, boat building and racing, river swimming, damper and marshmallow cooking over a campfire were some of the highlights.

Here are some photos of students in action during the camp ...
